Hoosier Cancer Research Network seeks a communications associate to join the team. A four-year undergraduate degree with relevant coursework is required. Two to three years of work experience in communications and a working knowledge of website management, graphic design, and social media management is preferred.

HCRN is an independent nonprofit contract research organization based in Indianapolis, Ind., that specializes in early phase, multi-center, investigator-initiated oncology clinical trials. Our studies are conducted through a nationwide network of more than 450 academic and community sites.

Job Description

  • Coordinates the development and implementation of all communications deliverables, including, but not limited to, web content, articles, newsletters, flyers, video content, and social media content.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for external collaborations in the areas of web, marketing, and social media. Communicates with marketing and communications personnel at collaborating research sites to facilitate working relationships.
  • Ensures the content accuracy and functionality of company websites. Prior knowledge of WordPress and a basic understanding of HTML is helpful.
  • Writes, edits, and posts news releases to websites as assigned, including but not limited to feature stories and study-specific announcements.
  • Collaborates with member site communications personnel to develop content highlighting investigators, member sites, and HCRN multi-institution studies.
  • Maintains accurate and current information on websites regarding current and completed clinical trials, research publications, and participating research sites.
  • Manages day-to-day social media content and campaigns. Maintains a consistent social media presence through use of scheduling and engagement features in relevant social media outlets.
  • Coordinates delivery of files for print and product manufacturers.
  • Tracks emerging technologies and trends in communications and marketing; participates in teleconferences and meetings related to marketing and communications.
  • Maintains professional networks and participates in professional organizations.
  • Additional communications-related work as determined by the director of business development and communications and the CEO.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A four-year undergraduate degree with relevant coursework or work experience in communications, website management, graphic design, and social media management. Writing expertise as demonstrated by a portfolio of articles or essays is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as computer software and documentation and procedure manuals. Will have the ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
