Hoosier Cancer Research Network (HCRN) currently seeks a full-time financial analyst to join our team.

HCRN is an independent nonprofit contract research organization based in Indianapolis, Ind., that specializes in early phase, multi-center, investigator-initiated oncology trials. Our studies are conducted through a nationwide network of more than 450 academic and community sites.

Job Description

CLINICAL TRIAL BUDGET DEVELOPMENT

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of clinical trial budget development for all trials in the research development pipeline.
  • Generate internal budget template, and complete external budget templates unique to each funder.
  • Work closely with operations director and contracts managers to review and understand lead site coverage analysis and compare to ongoing all-site budget analysis; determine average research rates for all members and update as new information is available.
  • Incorporate coverage for applicable PI oversight fees, biostatistics input/analyses costs, correlative supplies and analyses, and consider all other protocol requirements which involve 3rd party collaborations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with all funders’ budgetary and contractual personnel to ensure efficient budget submission and negotiation.
  • Understand fair market value requirements and assessments, track timelines for budget review and approval processes.
  • Discuss study funding details to HCRN staff, investigators, applicable site research administrators (e.g., cancer center directors, study coordinators, business managers.
  • Understand details of all study documents including protocol, Scope of Work, consents and contracts to ensure accuracy and consistency with budget exhibits.
  • Review and negotiate payment schedules for all incoming clinical study funding, as well as assist with 3rd party vendor budgets and payment schedule negotiations.
  • Maintain effective and timely communication of budget status with all HCRN staff to ensure effective coordination of all other study start-up tasks.
  • Act as liaison between HCRN, Sponsor Investigators and Funders for all budget related questions.
  • Assist Sponsor Investigators and HCRN development team with LOI budget submission.
  • Attend and provide budget related input during weekly development meetings, ongoing study status calls, as well as any ad-hoc meetings with Funders or other collaborators.

ACCOUNTING

  • Track study activities through close-out to ensure timely milestone billing.
  • Prepare and discuss budget reconciliations with finance team.
  • Perform ongoing assessment of budget processes.
  • Work directly with the CFO, director of operations and executive leadership to meet organizational needs.
  • Understand company objectives and promote long-term fiscal stability.

Language skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as computer software and documentation and procedure manuals. Will have the ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
