Hoosier Cancer Research Network Seeks Chief Financial Officer

Hoosier Cancer Research Network (HCRN) is an independent nonprofit contract research organization that specializes in early phase, multi-center, investigator-initiated clinical trials. HCRN conducts innovative cancer research in collaboration with 450+ academic and community clinical research sites across the United States. Through its work, HCRN advances cancer research, education, and patient advocacy.
Role
HCRN is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead and support its growing operations in Indianapolis, Indiana. The CFO will manage the finances of a 60-employee organization dedicated to oncology clinical research and education. As a key member of the senior executive team, this person will lead the finance function, oversee a team of four professionals and provide critical input to enterprise-level strategic decisions. Most importantly, this person’s leadership and financial acumen will enable HCRN to connect more cancer patients to potentially life-changing clinical trials.
Leadership
- Reports to CEO.
- Member of HCRN’s senior leadership team.
- Leads Board of Directors’ Finance Committee meetings.
- Acts as CFO of the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium and Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium Foundation.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversight of daily financial operations, including management and development of four team members.
- Responsible for financial and management reporting, including preparation of monthly financial statements and forecasts.
- Manages day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
- Monitors business systems and internal controls to ensure integrity of financial data.
- Supervises yearly budgeting process.
- Manages and prepares documentation for annual financial audit and tax returns.
- Partners with HCRN management team to identify process improvements.
- Works closely with the CEO on strategic planning and special projects.
Treasury
- Manages banking and insurance provider relationships.
- Works closely with HCRN’s Finance Committee and CEO to manage cash and investments portfolio.
Human Resources
- Oversees HR function by coordinating with external service provider (PEO) and internal staff responsible for HR activity.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in accounting and financial roles.
- Experience in a management position.
- Knowledge of clinical trial accounting.
- Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.
- Proficiency with accounting software (Sage) and MS Office Suite.
- Professional certification (Certified Public Accountant/Certified Management Accountant).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
