Jack L. Weiss

Jack L. Weiss was born January 21, 1951 in Rensselaer, Indiana. He  graduated from South Newton High School in 1969 and from Indiana University in 1973. Jack was a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity, Beta Chapter. He married Dixie R. Lawder on November 23, 1979, and she survives, along with daughter, Raegan, granddaughters, Ruth Marie and Rory June, and son, Brock.

Jack was an avid Indiana University football and basketball fan and enjoyed vacationing in the Colorado mountains. He was an excellent agronomist, who served his many customers with old-fashioned dedication, loyalty, and precision detail.

Jack was diagnosed with metastatic esophageal cancer in March 2008. Although he fought valiantly against this disease with radiation and chemotherapy treatments, he succumbed to his illness at home on December 25, 2008. He will be sorely missed by his wife, family, friends, and colleagues. His hope was that, through funding, research might enable doctors to help others where he could not be saved from this aggressive type of cancer.

The Hoosier Cancer Research Network extends our condolences to the Weiss family. We would also like extend our gratitude to the Weiss family for thinking of us in their time of need. It is through the generosity of people like the Weiss’ that future generations may not have to know the pain of cancer.

We would like to acknowledge Dr. Ken Kesler, Jack’s physician, for his continued dedication and support of our mission.
