A letter from Cyndi Burkhardt, RN
Dear Colleagues:
I am writing to let you know my plans to retire as Executive Director of Hoosier Cancer Research Network (HCRN) this year, once a successor is chosen and acclimated to the position. An executive search is currently underway.
8/1/22 update: Watch for an announcement soon introducing HCRN’s new executive director.
I joined this organization more than 16 years ago when we were known as Hoosier Oncology Group (“the HOG”), and have marveled as we have grown and strengthened over the years. As a nurse who has has worked in oncology and research for years, this company has given me so many opportunities I would never have imagined. It has been my great honor and personal joy to see our dedicated staff find similar avenues for professional development at HCRN. I love working alongside our staff and leadership team: they are second to none.
We are privileged to support an outstanding network of clinical researchers in both academic and community settings, across a wide range of oncology and hematology diseases, and in collaboration with dozens of funders, from well-established giants in the industry to early startups with promising novel compounds and platforms. I am proud of our accomplishments and collaborations, and excited for the future of the organization.
Outside of faith, family and friends, this company has been my greatest priority and passion. This has been an emotional and difficult decision to make, but the time is right and I am certain that the leadership and staff of HCRN are well positioned to carry the organization to even greater heights.
HCRN has its best days ahead, and together with all of you receiving this letter, we continue with confidence our fight against cancer and in our commitment to our vision and mission: to form unparalleled relationships between academic, community, pharmaceutical, and biotech collaborators with the goal of advancing cancer research, education, and patient advocacy.
With deepest appreciation,
Cynthia Burkhardt, RN
