Educational Background
After Dr. Hall completed his undergraduate at Texas A&M University he moved on to medical school at UT Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Hall completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Virginia and his Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
Research Interests
Richard D. Hall, MD, MS is a native of Texas but has become a proud Virginian and supporter of UVA sports since he completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at the University of Virginia in 2011. Dr. Hall attended Texas A&M University where he earned a B.S. in biochemistry prior to attending UT Southwestern Medical School where he earned his M.D. After completing his residency at UVA in 2011, Dr. Hall completed his fellowship training at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, FL, in 2014.
Dr. Hall joined the UVA School of Medicine faculty and UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2014. He specializes in the treatment of thoracic malignancies, including non-small-cell lung cancer, thymic malignancies and mesothelioma. As a clinical investigator, he has served as the PI for numerous clinical trials and is currently the UVA PI for 2 HCRN studies and one Big Ten CRC study. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hall serves as the UVA hematology/oncology fellowship program director. He was recently selected to join the ASCO Education Scholar’s Program in 2022-2023.
