Julie Russell Dilts joins HCRN as General Counsel

Julie Russell Dilts, JD, has joined the Hoosier Cancer Research Network (HCRN) team as General Counsel. Julie brings a wealth of expertise in various legal and regulatory areas, as well as a passion for the mission of HCRN.

Before joining HCRN, Julie led the Quality & Regulatory Compliance team at Roche Diagnostics Corporation. In her prior role as Senior Counsel on Roche’s in-house legal team, she advised on FDA regulations and negotiated complex commercial contracts with customers, vendors, and collaboration partners. Previously, she practiced law in the business department of Barnes and Thornburg LLP for ten years.

As general counsel, Julie is responsible for the oversight of all legal matters for HCRN. She also oversees the contracts team that is responsible for contracting negotiations for clinical studies as well as membership agreements for participating sites.

Beyond this, Julie is deeply dedicated to the mission of HCRN. Her commitment is personal, as her own father was treated as a lung cancer patient on an HCRN clinical trial. This firsthand experience has strengthened her drive to contribute to advances in cancer research.

“I am excited to step into this leadership role with HCRN, where I have the perfect opportunity to use my prior experiences, legal and personal, to contribute to a meaningful mission. I am filled with gratitude for the oncologist who treated my dad, and I am proud to be able to support cancer researchers and patients who participate in HCRN clinical trials,” Julie said.

Julie earned her law degree from Duke University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina, and her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She and her family live in Indianapolis.

About Hoosier Cancer Research Network:

Hoosier Cancer Research Network conducts innovative cancer clinical trials in collaboration with more than 100 academic and community clinical research sites across the United States. Our studies are designed by cancer researchers from our member institutions. The HCRN staff includes 55 team members who work together to support all aspects of the studies we manage, from the time we receive the initial concept from a researcher through the final publication of the study results. Currently, we are supporting more than 70 clinical trials across a wide range of cancer types. Over our 40-year history, more than 10,000 participants have enrolled in our clinical trials, leading to important discoveries that help cancer patients live longer and better after their cancer diagnosis.
