HCRN internship program creates a community and environment for students to grow
Four years ago, I left home to pursue higher education. Today, I feel a similar sense of nostalgia as this is my final day as an Intern at Hoosier Cancer Research Network. HCRN was not only a key to my financial stability in college, but it became a home consisting of the warmth only family could show you.
I hold a great amount of pride for being able to be a part of a company that sees potential in each of its employees and takes the time to show them the appreciation and value they deserve. As an intern this is a rare sensation, and I truly am lucky to have felt this way. I applaud Hoosier Cancer Research Network for the community and environment they have created and continue to maintain even as they grow!
Today is a very bittersweet day for me, as this was the company that took me in as an 18-year-old fresh out of high school and supported my growth and education ever since. HCRN has been the biggest contributor to my professional personality and preparedness to leave academia and enter the work force. Every day in office has been a new opportunity to grow and interact as a young professional as opposed to a student being taught in a classroom. Although my time at IUPUI has been a phenomenal educational experience, nearly all of what it takes to be in the office as a friend, a collaborator, and an employee has been taught to me via my time at HCRN. I will forever be grateful for all the amazing mentors that have directly/indirectly pushed me to become the person I am today.
Thank you so much, HCRN, for seeing potential and hiring a clueless 18-year-old four years ago and turning him into a competent 22-year-old who is ready, optimistic, and excited for all the challenges and triumphs ahead!
I wish nothing but the best to every incredible individual and the company as a whole, and am beyond excited to see all the amazing things this company will do for Cancer Research!
From the HCRN Team: Shiv, we couldn’t be more proud of you! We are so grateful for the time we had with you and are equally excited to see where the future will take you.
