At University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center, we believe knowledge comes from questioning the status quo, discovering more about disease and using that knowledge to improve the health of our community. Our physicians are also teachers and researchers at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and are involved in the research and development of new treatments and cures for cancer. This means patients receive the most advanced and appropriate treatment even for complex or rare conditions.
We focus exclusively on cancer and have seen cases of most every kind. Because we are an academic medical center, our doctors treat more rare cancers in a single day than most physicians see in a lifetime. In fact, many patients are transferred to our cancer center when their needs are too complex for other healthcare providers.
When appropriate, we offer the opportunity to participate in clinical trials. Clinical trials are part of clinical research and at the heart of all medical advances. Clinical trials look at new ways to prevent, detect, or treat disease. Participants work with physicians to find new ways to improve treatments and the quality of life for people with disease.
